Is it a giant species of bird or a very small race of people? I am leaning toward the latter because of her bare feet. You often see that with minuscule peoples in fairy tales, or with fairies for that matter.
well; considering the size of the person's ears, I'd say it is a human, now if it were a human fully grown,as it is female she'd be about 4'7"-6'1" tall, now if this is a giant bird I would say it is a Roc, now when hatched a Roc is the size of a fully grown adult human. Within minutes Rocs are capable of flight and hunting, when fully grown Rocs can pick up fully grown elephants. Judging by the bow and arrow I would say this is a Ranger, one of the only two classes in Pathfinder capable of having an animal companion (the other is Druid.) I know this cause this is somewhat like my character, except mine is an Elven female. Hope that helps you out
I recall my former roommate telling me once that his preparedness was the only thing that kept their party alive. Apparently they had one guy who would flirt with literally any female-looking entity, and this got the team into multiple curses, rifts in reality, and other near death situations. XD
haha, that must have sucked my friend Micahyu told me he was once on a party of six where he was the only fighter and everyone else was a cleric so he was the only one to be able to do damage then when he fell they didn't heal him so he would be a cleric too when he didn't want to
Its interesting when I find artists here who have actually done work for my favorite Pencil-and-Paper RPG
I'm curious; did Paizo give you any guidelines for drawing Halflings, or is this your own interpretation? (I notice she doesn't have the 'classic' hairy feet of the 'baseline' halflings of the game, for instance).
They just told me "Female Halfing with a Hawk and falconer equipment. The hawk should be almost as big as the halfing" They attached a painting of a male halfling, but since I had to paint a female it wasn't too much help. I didn't paint hair on her feet because she is a female, and I though that hairy feet is a male feature, but to be honest, I don't know If female halflings have furry feet or not, it was just a supposition.
Well, the core rules just mention the hair on their feet without respect to gender, but I guess this falls into the whole "Do female Dwarves have beards"? debate
Still, nice image overall (hope you get more work for Pathfinder in the future).
On a more....lecherous.... note ^_^; I've noticed some nudes in your gallery, and that led me to thinking about another topic: You often see sexy imagery of fantasy races (mostly elves and humans), but there are a couple you rarely see such of, particularly Dwarves, Orcs/Half-Orcs, and Halflings
I only know a couple of artist who do sexy Dwarven/Orc images: MalcolmD: [link] and SenseiBushido: [link]
Of course neither of them have done 'official' work as you have.
Anyway, sorry for the long reply, and keep up the good work
Man, this is frickin good! Really awesome details on the face! And the equipment is definitely something more refreshing for a female in a fantasy setting - not quite sure why she's barefoot though, but them be minute details. Probably? Whatever. Favorite'd!
I love the reasonable design and equipment you gave the character. I'm getting kinda sick of all these scantily clad fantasy babes (although they are fine in moderation). It's nice to see a girl who looks like she might be equipped for adventuring instead of pole-dancing. As always I particularly love the way you painted her face. Some very nice color variation on the cheeks and nose.
A side effect of playing rpg games is that when I have to actually illustrate a character I always think what would I want to have if I had to choose that character for a game, itīs like, "I would need a leather armour, and a shortsword would be helpful, and..." XD
You donīt loose anything for trying... I just sent them a short portfolio with some pathfinder like illustrations, and several months after that, they saw some more illustrations that they liked on my DA account, and they asked me to do something similar for them. Now they send me a commission from time to time...
